Science Specialist Teaching Assistant - Full-Time in Levenshulme

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Science Specialist Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This is a full-time role starting in November and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of the position being made permanent based on performance. The salary for this position is £419.25 - £500 per week, depending on experience.

Role Overview:

As a Science Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the Science department to support students in their understanding and engagement with the subject across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. You will provide both in-class assistance and targeted intervention to help students improve their comprehension, practical skills, and exam performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting Science teachers in delivering engaging lessons, helping students to fully access the material and understand complex scientific concepts.
• Providing one-to-one and small group support for students who need extra help with specific topics or skills in Science.
• Supporting practical lessons by preparing materials, helping with equipment, and ensuring health and safety guidelines are followed in the laboratory.
• Developing and adapting resources to meet the needs of individual students, particularly those requiring additional help with scientific literacy or exam techniques.
• Monitoring student progress, offering feedback to the teaching staff, and assisting with the implementation of tailored learning plans to address areas of difficulty.
• Helping to foster a positive learning environment, encouraging curiosity and a love for Science, while promoting positive behavior in and out of lessons.
• Assisting with administrative tasks within the Science department, including the preparation of learning resources and assessments.
• Providing support during exam periods by helping students with revision, practice tests, and study strategies.

The Ideal Candidate:

• A strong academic background in Science, ideally as a recent graduate or someone with significant knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.
• Experience working with young people, whether in a teaching assistant, tutoring, or mentoring role, especially in the area of Science.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain challenging scientific concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
• Passion for Science and education, with a desire to help students develop their understanding and enthusiasm for the subject.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other school staff to support the learning and development of students.
• A proactive and flexible approach, with good organizational skills to help manage classroom activities and learning materials.
