A highly reputable and academically ambitious secondary school in Reading is seeking a passionate and dynamic Science Teacher to join its thriving staff team on a permanent basis from September 2024. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging, and inclusive science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to contribute to A-level teaching depending on specialism and experience. The teacher will join a dedicated and collaborative science department, committed to developing curriculum strategies that enhance student engagement and success in STEM subjects.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans in line with curriculum objectives.
  • Assess and record student progress and provide grades and feedback.
  • Maintain discipline through effectively implemented school policies and procedures.
  • Participate in departmental and school meetings, parent meetings, and whole school training events.
  • Facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
  • Contribute to the development and coordination of the Science Department’s resources and curriculum.

Requirements:

  • Possess a relevant educational degree with a qualified teacher status (QTS) in the UK.
  • Demonstrable experience in teaching Science at secondary school level.
  • Strong understanding of the British curriculum and the specific demands of the subject.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a proactive approach to student welfare.
  • Enhanced DBS disclosure.
