A leading SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) School Group is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to join the permanent staff at an independent, special school in Westbury. These schools are renowned for providing exceptional education and support to students with diverse needs, ensuring they reach their full potential in a nurturing and supportive environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality Science education to students, fostering a love for the subject, and adapting teaching methods to meet the individual needs of each student. This role requires a dynamic and empathetic professional who can inspire and motivate students, helping them achieve both academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated Science lessons to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback and support.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCO and other staff.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports the emotional and social development of all students.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student performance and progress.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in Science or a related subject.
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and ability to adapt it to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for teaching and supporting students with special educational needs.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues.
