Teaching Personnel are working closely with a secondary school in the Portsmouth area who are recruiting a enthusiastic and dedicated Science teacher to join their team full time from September. This school aim to be Ready, Respectful, Resilient, Responsible, Resourceful, and Reflective every day. They believe in nurturing the whole child, encouraging curiosity, and developing critical thinking skills. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Engaging Lessons: Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging, and differentiated lessons in line with the national curriculum, catering to a diverse range of abilities.

  • Promote Scientific Inquiry: Foster a love for science by encouraging students to ask questions, think critically, and engage in hands-on experiments and activities.

  • Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess students' progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback that supports their academic growth.

  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment where all students feel respected and are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning.

  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational best practices and advancements in science education.

  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects, share resources, and contribute to the overall improvement of the science department.

  • Pastoral Care: Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development, acting as a positive role model and mentor.

  • Extra-Curricular Activities: Contribute to the school community by participating in or leading extra-curricular science-related activities, clubs, or events.

 

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): A recognised teaching qualification with a specialisation in Science.
  • Experience: Previous experience teaching Science at the secondary level is preferred but not essential for the right candidate.
  • Passion for Education: A deep passion for teaching and a commitment to continuous improvement in educational practice.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Team Player: A collaborative approach to working with colleagues, students, and parents.
