An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and committed Teacher of Science to join the staff of a growing and fast-improving secondary school in Preston. The school is seeking an inspiring individual to become a key member of their Science department from January 2025 or earlier if available.


As a Teacher of Science, the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching A-Level depending on experience. You will be expected to deliver engaging and dynamic lessons, fostering a love for Science and driving students towards academic success. You will join a supportive team dedicated to raising standards and improving outcomes for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Science lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on students’ progress, providing targeted support where necessary.
  • Participate in department meetings, training, and school activities.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Science department and the wider school community.
  • Ensure that all students are motivated and challenged to achieve their full potential.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A relevant degree in Science or a related subject.
  • A passion for Science education and a strong subject knowledge.
  • Experience of teaching Science at secondary school level (Key Stage 3 and 4 essential; Key Stage 5 desirable).
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and inspire students of varying abilities.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to professional development and the ability to contribute to the school’s improvement journey.

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching A-Level Science.
  • Familiarity with the latest educational initiatives and a desire to innovate in teaching practices.
