Science Teacher (Maternity Cover) - Tameside Area

Teaching Personnel is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher for a maternity cover role at one of our partner secondary schools in the Tameside area. This is a full-time temporary position, set to begin in January, and provides an excellent opportunity to become part of a welcoming and supportive school community.

  • Position: Science Teacher (Maternity Cover)
  • Start Date: January
  • Duration: Temporary (maternity cover, length to be confirmed)
  • Location: Secondary school in Tameside
  • Contract Type: Full-time
  • Subjects: General Science (with potential to specialise in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
  • Key Stages: KS3 and KS4 (with some possibility of KS5, depending on experience)
  • Salary: Competitive, based on experience and in line with MPS/UPS

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, engaging and motivating students of varying abilities.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports student learning and personal development.
  • Mark, assess, and provide feedback in line with the school's assessment policies to help students achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the Science curriculum is delivered effectively and to the highest standards.
  • Participate in school events, parents’ evenings, and extracurricular activities as required.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent in the UK.
  • Proven experience in teaching Science at KS3 and KS4 (experience at KS5 is advantageous but not essential).
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and a passion for science education.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and engage students.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
