This Secondary school is looking for an enthusiastic person to join the Science Technician Team. You will be supporting the science faculty in delivering the science curriculum, and will need excellent organisation and communication skills along with the ability to work to deadlines. You will need the ability to transport bulky equipment around the school. A Scientific background and/or laboratory experience is desirable but not essential.

Science Technician 37 hours per week, 8.00am-4.00pm (with an earlier finish of 3.30pm one day a week) 39 Weeks per year SS 3- 6 £19,535 - £20,528 (Pro Rated) £22,737- £23,893 (FTE) Successful candidates for posts with the school, will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check. Key responsibilities:

· To support effective teaching and learning through the efficient, effective and safe development of Science resources, providing technical support to the Teacher of Science

· To undertake preparations of materials for student’s practical work including IT based activities

· To assist in the production of technical information that is used by staff and students

· To understand and be aware of all health and safety instructions on the use of department resources (e.g. tools, materials, equipment etc)

· To have general oversight / maintenance of resources within the department

· To report maintenance and repair school equipment and fittings as required

You will:

· Have excellent scientific and technical knowledge

· Have knowledge of safe working practices within the school science lab

· Have experience of maintenance of science equipment

· Be educated to Minimum A-Level Science and Grade A*-C in GCSE English and Maths

· Have good IT and strong practical skills

· Be a positive role model of professional practice and conduct of others

· Set an example of positive personal integrity and professionalism, with positive, appropriate and effective communications and relationships at all levels

· Ensure high standards are maintained, progressed, and promoted in all areas of work
