Science Technician

Teaching Personnel wish to appoint an enthusiastic and reliable individual to work as a Science Technician at a Secondary school in Abergavenny. This will include the preparation for experiments and practical scientific work and ensure the relevant resources are available to provide support for staff and pupils.

This is a great opportunity for a recent Science graduate who is looking to gain more experience within a lab.

  • Hours: 08:30 – 16:00 ( Mon-Fri, term time only)
  • Salary: starting from £85 per day
  • Contract: Temporary
  • Start date: ASAP

As the school science technician, you will be responsible for:

  • supporting science teachers so that pupils achieve the maximum success in their practical work.
  • providing technical support to the science department.
  • preparing materials, equipment and teaching aids for classroom use.
  • keeping science apparatus maintained and in optimum condition.
  • maintaining stocks of chemicals.

Requirements:

  • Strong academic background in Science – Science related degree would be desirable
  • Lab experience
  • Enhanced DBS – Teaching Personnel will assist with this during registration
  • Education Workforce Council Registration – TP will assist with this.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
