Job Overview:

On behalf of a reputable secondary school in South London, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN (Special Educational Needs) Manager. The successful candidate will oversee the provision for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring they receive the necessary support to achieve their full potential. This permanent role starts in September 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:
    • Lead and manage the SEN department, including SEN teachers and teaching assistants.
    • Develop and implement policies supporting the school's vision and objectives.
    • Ensure compliance with SEND legislation and the school's SEN policy.
  • Student Support:
    • Identify and assess the needs of students with SEND and develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
    • Coordinate with external agencies such as educational psychologists and health services.
  • Teaching and Learning:
    • Support teachers in differentiating the curriculum for SEND students.
    • Deliver training and support to staff on SEN strategies and best practices.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for senior leadership and the governing body.
    • Manage the SEN budget effectively.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Essential:
    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
    • In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation and best practices.
    • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
