Teaching Personnel are looking for afull-time secondary general subject teacher who is seeking to making a genuine impact in a SEN school in the South of Bristol. This unique provision is a warm and inclusive environment for the students and staff. They value the needs of the staff, understanding the work – life balance as they offer Teachers to PPA at home on Friday mornings.  

This specialist school is a provision for students who lay on the autistic spectrum with each students need being different to the next.  Students have a neuro-divergent profile and can access an age-appropriate mainstream curriculum delivered using proven ASD strategies whilst also supporting their sensory and emotional needs. The students’ academic abilities currently range from Entry Level to higher level GCSE.

As a SEN Teacher, your role will involve:

  • Delivering and teaching engaging KS3 and 4 lessons that meet curriculum objectives
  • Managing student behaviour, ensuring the classroom environment is safe and supportive of learning
  • Plan, mark and assess the work of students
  • To teach Monday – Thursday and use Friday morning as PPA time at home or in school, then to assist with Friday afternoon transition.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • QTS
  • Great subject knowledge, and a commitment to want to continue learning
  • Be confident in using a variety of behaviour management strategies
  • Passionate about teaching and the impact of a high-quality education on children’s learning progress and life outcomes
  • Experience working with SEND pupils / the confidence to work with SEND children
