  • Pay rate: £110 - £200 per day.

An SEMH provision in Preston is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Secondary Teacher to join their team from April 2024! This is a scheduled absence within school and would be required until the end of the academic year. The young people’s needs may vary and may include Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties and associated behavioural difficulties.

Your working day will involve planning and delivering high quality KS3 & KS4 lessons following the curriculum that’s tailored to each individual student and providing a fun, positive approach to education. You will provide support and guidance to the school’s Teaching Assistants and will play a key role in their professional development. You will be expected to mark and assess work and use specialist equipment to stimulate interest in learning and aid concentration.

You must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and/or educated to Degree Level to be considered for this role. You will ideally have previous experience of working with students/young people with Special Educational Needs and you must be confident when approaching challenging behaviour. You must have a genuine passion for working with pupils with SEMH.

Class sizes are small and will be led by yourself, although you will have a lot of support from an appropriate number of teaching assistants reflecting the individual needs and abilities of the group. You will be working with KS3 and KS4 pupils who majority follow a mainstream curriculum, however you are able to offer a more personalised approach when necessary.
