About the job:

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and driven candidate to join one of our partnership schools as a teaching assistant within the ASB Base supporting pupils with autism. In this role, you will need to have an empathetic nature and be a supportive individual whilst demonstrating resilience. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and other staff to provide affective assistance and contribute to the overall positive learning environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Working in a small class of pupils with autism within the ASB Base
  • Create a positive and encouraging environment which is engaging for pupils
  • Build trusting relationships with staff and pupils offering social and emotional support when required
  • Show understanding and adhere to the schools safeguarding policies
  • Assist in preparing new learning materials where required

Job requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced Child Only DBS Certificate (we can help you obtain this)
  • To be registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
  • Two professional references covering 24 months
  • Level 2 Safeguarding (provided by Teaching Personnel)

Whilst having experience working with children who have special education needs in a professional setting is desirable, we welcome applications from people who have personal experience or someone who is willing to fully engage and develop skills in this area.

The school:

The school is based within Cwmbran and educates children from the age of 11 up to 16. The school has two dedicated class bases to support pupils with hearing impairments and autism. Teaching Personnel are looking for a 1:1 teaching assistant to help support pupils with Autism within the ASD Base.
