The school is a dedicated SEND school, proud to have been rated GOOD by Ofsted. All of the students have Education, Health, and Care (EHC) plans and experience special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). The students, families, and staff speak highly of the close-knit, supportive community.

They are looking for a full-time Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their compassionate team. In this role, you will work closely with students, providing the guidance, support, and care they need to achieve to the best of their abilities.

About the role:

  • Provide individualized support for students with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and engage in learning.
  • Assist with day-to-day classroom activities under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Encourage and model positive behavior, emotional resilience, and independence.
  • Build trusting relationships with students, creating a safe space where they feel comfortable to learn and grow.
  • Collaborate with other staff to develop and implement learning strategies tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Support pupils who may have struggled in mainstream schools, ensuring they feel valued and understood in our calm environment.

Key qualities and skills:

  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to build rapport with young people.
  • A positive attitude and the desire to help students reach their full potential.
  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations, though challenging behavior is infrequent in our school.
  • A good understanding of SEND, and experience working with children with additional needs is desirable, but training will be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
