SEMH Support Assistants

 

Teaching Personnel has been approached by a school in Preston who are looking to recruit Teaching Assistants to ideally starting in September. The school caters for students aged 11-16 with SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) difficulties, particularly those who display challenging behaviours. Children who attend school may have large gaps in their learning, due to being persistently absent from school. The school has a strong ethos of creating a supportive environment which the children can thrive. To be successful, experience supporting challenging children is required. You must also be very confident and resilient to work in this provision.

 

- Full-time roles available (8.30am-3.30pm).

- Specialist School in Preston (PR2).

- ASAP Start.

- Temporary role.

- Experience supporting children with SEMH is desirable.

- PAYE Contract.

- £12.90+ per hour depending on expererience, qualifications and additional duties.


Duties will include:

  • Supporting students in crisis.
  • Ensuring children are supported whilst in school.
  • Helping students to access their education.
  • Providing small group intervention.
  • Providing and encouraging positive learning.

Specific qualifications are not necessary for this role, however they are desirable. The school will consider candidates who have backgrounds in care and support work.
