About the Role:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work at a welcoming primary school in Fleetwood. This role involves working closely with a KS2 pupil who requires significant support due to severe Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour.

The successful Teaching Assistant will provide one-on-one support, focusing on helping the pupil manage their behaviour, engage with learning, and develop socially within the school environment. The ability to de-escalate potential conflicts and serve as a strong role model is crucial for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a KS2 pupil with severe SEMH and behavioural needs.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored strategies that support the pupil's learning and social integration.
  • Act as a positive role model, helping the pupil develop appropriate behaviour and coping mechanisms.
  • De-escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively, ensuring the safety and well-being of the pupil and others.
  • Monitor the pupil's progress and communicate regularly with the school’s leadership team and parents.

About You:

  • Experience working with children who face barriers to learning, particularly those with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Background in Youth Work, Social Work, working with disadvantaged backgrounds, or sports coaching is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) is beneficial, but not essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and act as a behaviour buddy for the pupil.
