We are a dedicated and caring single form entry primary school located in the heart of Blackburn. Committed to providing an inclusive and nurturing learning environment, we are currently seeking a Level 2 qualified Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our team and support a pupil with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs on a 1:1 basis within Key Stage 1.
Role Overview:
As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and enriching classroom experience for a pupil with SEMH needs. Your expertise will be crucial in addressing their individual learning requirements and ensuring their successful integration within the classroom setting. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing tailored support to the pupil in accordance with their Individual Education Plan (IEP).
- Assisting in the development of appropriate learning materials and resources to engage the pupil and facilitate their progress.
- Collaborating with the classroom teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement strategies that promote the pupil's social and emotional development.
- Monitoring the pupil's behavior and emotional well-being, and implementing de-escalation techniques when needed.
- Offering a safe and nurturing environment that fosters the pupil's self-esteem and confidence.
- Communicating effectively with parents/guardians, sharing progress updates and collaborating on strategies for support.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Level 2 qualification in Teaching and Learning or relevant equivalent.
- Previous experience working with pupils with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of SEMH and strategies to support pupils in an educational setting.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for facilitating the development of young learners.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
