A secondary pupil referral unit in South Manchester is looking for a full-time teacher to take on a role at the school. Within this role, you will cover multiple core subjects across the GCSE curriculum and work with small classes to ensure focus and progression in different lessons. The school is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for students where they can thrive academically and socially.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons across various subjects within the GCSE curriculum
  • Create a supportive environment where students feel valued, respected and motivated to learn
  • Manage challenging behaviour effectively
  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans and interventions
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents and other support staff to provide holistic and individualised support for each student
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress and behaviour

Requirements

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour, preferably secondary aged
  • Strong understanding of the GCSE curriculum and the ability to teach across multiple subjects
  • Excellent behaviour management skills
  • Knowledge of SEMH strategies, interventions and best practices
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other members of staff to manage a team of support staff within the classroom

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
