A highly reputable and forward-thinking SEN school group is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher of SEMH to join their thriving Alternative Provision based in Birkenhead. This is a permanent position, with a start date of January 2025 or sooner, for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, personalised teaching and learning to students with SEMH needs.
  • Support the academic, social, and emotional development of students, using a tailored curriculum that meets individual needs.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging resilience, self-regulation, and personal growth.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each student’s education.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in SEN and SEMH education.

Requirements for the Role:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience working with students with SEMH needs, preferably in an Alternative Provision or SEN setting.
  • A deep understanding of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health issues and their impact on learning.
  • Strong behaviour management skills, with a calm and compassionate approach to challenging behaviour.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Additional qualifications or training related to SEN/SEMH education.
  • Experience in a similar setting, working with young people with complex and diverse needs.
