Full-Time Teacher Needed at a Pupil Referral Unit in Stoke

A secondary pupil referral unit in Stoke is seeking a full-time teacher to start as soon as possible. In this role, you will be responsible for teaching multiple core subjects to students aged 11-16 who are currently out of mainstream schooling due to various social, emotional, and mental health needs. These students require additional support to thrive in an educational setting.

With small class sizes, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with students on a variety of topics, and you may also be expected to plan and mark work for some lessons.

Each student has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) that will guide their learning and support. You will need to familiarize yourself with these plans and effectively incorporate them into your teaching.

Key Requirements:

  • Teaching qualification and/or extensive teaching experience.
  • Flexibility in your teaching style to cater to the needs of each student.
  • Previous experience teaching secondary-aged pupils in a school environment.
  • Experience working with young people displaying challenging behavior.
  • Team Teach qualification or equivalent, or a willingness to undertake this training.
  • Confidence in supporting students independently.
  • Ability to collaborate with support staff to provide a comprehensive learning experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
