An SEMH provision in Manchester is currently looking for a teacher to start in a full-time position. The school is small and works with children who are currently outside of mainstream schooling due to exclusion based on challenging behaviour. The school hopes to support secondary aged pupils to ensure that they are making progress in their behaviour, with the hope to eventually move them back into mainstream schooling after seeing improvement.
The students in the school work towards qualifications, both GCSEs and vocational, to give them as much knowledge and confidence as possible. This means there is a variety of lessons and activities for the students to make sure they are not sat in a classroom all day and are stimulated in a way that suits them individually.
Within this teaching role you will:
- Work with parents, carers, support staff and other partners of the school to create comprehensive learning plans for each student.
- Plan fun and engaging lessons for students for a variety of different topics
- Manage challenging behaviour and work alongside support staff to keep focus and maintain a calm and respectful environment
- Track progress of students and feed this back to them in a constructive way
For this role you should:
- Have a teaching qualification or extensive teaching experience
- Be comfortable dealing with and managing challenging behaviour
- Have experience leading support staff and guiding them in their work
- Be available full time
The role will be full-time and long term. If you are interested in this role, please send an up to date copy of your CV alongside your application.
