Exciting Opportunity: SEMH Teaching Assistant Needed

Are you passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Teaching Personnel is recruiting a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant for a full-time position at an Ofsted Good secondary school in Wilmslow.

Role Details:

  • Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant
  • Duration: Full-time, starting after Easter until the end of the academic year
  • Possibility of Permanent Role: Depending on performance
  • Pay: £1540 - £1900 per month

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, assisting them in overcoming barriers to learning and promoting positive behaviour.
  • Implement tailored interventions and strategies to support students' social, emotional, and mental well-being, in collaboration with the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and teaching staff.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, providing emotional support and guidance to help them develop coping mechanisms and resilience.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans, monitoring progress and adjusting strategies as required.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, external agencies, and parents/carers to ensure holistic support and continuity of care for students with SEMH needs.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs in an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students, staff, and families.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience in supporting students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to meeting the individual needs of students and implementing effective support strategies.
