About the Role:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant secondary school in Stretford. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of young people who require additional support to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with students, teachers, and the SENCO to provide tailored support and interventions that address both academic and emotional needs.

Salary: £420 to £450 per week.

Location: Manchester

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of Education, Health and Care plans and Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop and deliver bespoke interventions.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to the SENCO and parents.
  • Support students in developing coping strategies and social skills.
  • Encourage student engagement and participation in classroom activities.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young adults with SEMH needs.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs.
  • A relevant qualification in education or childcare (desirable but not essential).
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
