Job Opportunity: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated good secondary school in Bramhall. This full-time position starts ASAP and continues until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance. The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. Your efforts will help ensure that these students receive the necessary support to thrive academically and personally within a supportive and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Support:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Utilize strategies and interventions tailored to individual students to promote positive behavior and emotional well-being.
  • Monitor and track the progress of students, providing regular feedback to teachers and contributing to the development of personalized support plans.

Classroom Assistance:

  • Work closely with teachers to create an inclusive classroom environment that accommodates the needs of students with SEMH challenges.
  • Assist in preparing and organizing teaching materials and resources that support the learning of students with SEMH needs.
  • Support classroom management by implementing behavior strategies and interventions that promote a positive learning environment.

Pastoral Care:

  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students, offering encouragement and guidance to help them succeed both academically and personally.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategies to support students' social, emotional, and mental health.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and carers to provide updates on progress and address any concerns.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with the school's academic and pastoral teams to ensure a cohesive approach to supporting students with SEMH needs.
  • Participate in regular meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to the wider school community by participating in extracurricular activities and school events.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of strategies and interventions to support students with social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a supportive approach to working with young people.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
