Teaching Personnel, a leading education recruitment agency, is seeking a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant mainstream secondary school in South Manchester. Our partner school is committed to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.

Role Overview:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will work closely with teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement personalized strategies that enhance students' educational experiences and promote their well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support students in managing their emotions and developing coping strategies.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and parents to monitor student progress.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students' mental health.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A relevant qualification in education or child development is desirable but not essential.
