Position: Teaching Assistant
Location: SEMH Residential School
Type: Full-Time

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work in an SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) residential school. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children who face challenges in mainstream education and are seeking a rewarding role where they can truly make an impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Support: Provide tailored support to students, helping them engage with learning and feel included in the school community.
  • Building Relationships: Dedicate time to building strong, trusting relationships with both students and staff, ensuring that all needs are met in a supportive and collaborative environment.
  • Resilience: Demonstrate resilience in the face of challenges, consistently maintaining a calm and positive demeanour.
  • Empathy: Show genuine empathy and understanding towards students, creating a safe and comfortable environment that encourages learning and personal growth.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers  and other professionals to ensure the holistic well-being of each student.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children in SEMH settings or those who have struggled in mainstream schools.
  • Dedication: A commitment to a full-time role, demonstrating reliability and a strong work ethic.
  • Resilience & Empathy: The ability to remain patient, resilient, and empathetic, even in challenging situations.
  • Team Player: Willingness to collaborate with staff and contribute to a positive school culture.
  • Encouraging Attitude: A positive, encouraging attitude that helps students feel included and motivated to learn.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
