Do you have experience working with children and young people? Are you interested in providing one-to-one support outside mainstream schools? If so, our Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) tutor role might be perfect for you, especially if you have experience working with children and young people with additional needs and are seeking flexible work.

In this SEMH tutor role you will:

  • Work closely with children who have special educational needs, providing face-to-face support to those with SEMH.
  • Tailor resources to the child's needs, potentially focusing on developing their Maths and English skills through play or personalised learning methods.
  • Utilise your skills and experience to keep the child engaged with tasks and ensure they can access learning effectively.
  • Implement a variety of behavior management strategies to support the child's progress.

The location for this role may vary depending on the pupil's needs but will be agreed upon prior to starting tuition. All pupils for this role will be based in the Manchester area, which boasts extensive transport links by road, bus, tram, and train.

What we're looking for in an SEMH tutor:

  • Experience in SEN (as a teaching assistant, in one-to-one settings, or similar roles).
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Skills in accelerating pupils' educational progress.
  • Capability to monitor pupils' progress towards desired learning outcomes and provide feedback.
  • Desirable: Experience working with children exhibiting challenging behaviour.

Successful applicants must provide evidence of their skills and experience. All candidates will undergo background checks and require a current DBS certificate (update service registered), with support available from Teaching Personnel if needed. Working hours are typically Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 16:00.
