An outstanding Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Headteacher to join the senior leadership team at their highly respected SEN school in Basingstoke. This is a permanent position with a start date of January 2025, though an earlier appointment is desirable.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the school's future and ensuring that the needs of all pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are met to the highest standards. The school is dedicated to providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, and the leadership team is committed to delivering a curriculum that helps every child thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Headteacher in the strategic leadership of the school, contributing to the development and implementation of policies and initiatives to raise standards.
  • Lead on areas of school improvement and the development of outstanding teaching and learning practices across the school.
  • Oversee and ensure high-quality pastoral care and support for pupils with diverse and complex needs.
  • Work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for pupils.
  • Be an integral part of the school's inclusive ethos, fostering a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably within an SEN setting, with a passion for working with children with special educational needs.
  • A track record of driving school improvement and raising educational standards.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to collaboration with all stakeholders.
  • A thorough understanding of SEND policies and procedures, alongside the ability to innovate and lead best practices in inclusive education.
