An esteemed independent special school in Medway, Kent is seeking a dedicated and fully qualified English Teacher to join their permanent staff list from September 2024.

Role Requirements:

  • Qualifications: A recognized teaching qualification (QTS) with a specialization in English.
  • Experience: Proven experience working within a special education setting, demonstrating a strong understanding of various learning disabilities and special needs.
  • Skills: Excellent classroom management skills, the ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, and a creative approach to teaching English.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the English National Curriculum and the ability to adapt it to suit the individual needs of SEN students. Familiarity with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and the capability to develop and implement them effectively.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with students, parents, and colleagues effectively.
  • Commitment: A passionate commitment to special education, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students can succeed.
  • Professional Development: A willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and training to remain current with best practices and emerging trends in special education.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons tailored to the individual needs and abilities of SEN students.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback and adapting teaching strategies as necessary.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student development and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and development.
  • Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and development.
  • Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and contribute to the wider school community.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
