Learning Support Assistant

Location: Surrey, United Kingdom

Job Description: We are seeking passionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join our team in supporting students with SEN in schools across Surrey. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing individualised assistance to students, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Dyslexia, and Speech and Language Disorders.
  • Assist students with their academic work, helping them to understand and complete tasks in line with their individual learning plans.
  • Support students in developing their social skills and building positive relationships with peers and teachers.
  • Implement behavior management strategies and techniques to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and other professionals to assess student progress and develop personalized learning goals.
  • Provide personal care and assistance with daily activities, as required.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with individuals with SEN, preferably in an educational setting, is desired but not essential.
  • Knowledge of different SEN conditions and understanding of appropriate support strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and personal development of students with SEN.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or equivalent, are desirable but not essential.
