Would you be interested in supporting children and young people as a 1:1 tutor outside of mainstream schools?

This Special Educational Needs (SEN) tutor role will be ideal if you are a qualified teacher, SEN/ SEMH specialist or a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant confident teaching English, Maths or Science up to GCSE level, and are looking for some flexible work.

The location for this would vary dependent on the need of the pupil but would be pre-agreed prior to commencement of the tuition but will be based in Basildon!

This SEN tutor role involves:

  • Working with children and providing face to face support to children at their homes or a local area e.g., a local library.
  • Planning resources around the child’s needs, this could be on developing their knowledge in Maths and English or educational learning through play.
  • Skills and experience on keeping the child engaged with task and ensuring they can access the learning.
  • Managing and implementing a range of behaviour strategies.

What we are looking for in a SEN tutor:

  • SEMH and/ or SEN experience.
  • Experience working with children with challenging behaviour.
  • Able to plan and deliver engaging core academic sessions, tailored to the pupil’s learning level.
  • Assessing and track the pupils progress to achieve their desired learning outcomes and provide feedback.
