  • Croydon based specialist provision
  • Caters for pupils with SEN needs, aged 5-11 years.
  • No relevant qualifications required but relevant experience is desirable.
  • Start date: April 2024.
  • Short-term role but with the view to move onto long-term position.

The role

As a Teaching Assistant working in a SEN provision will require you to be able to work in a high-pressure environment supporting pupils who have additional needs, both educational and developmental. This provision has many interventions in place to support their pupils where TA’s will be required to take part or even plan and deliver them, as well as providing general classroom support. This specialist provision caters for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs, meaning in your role you will need to be able to diffuse a high-pressured situation in a calm and professional manner whilst ensuring the pupils needs are always the priority.

The provision

This specialist provision based in Croydon caters for pupils, aged 5-11 years with EHC Plans for Social, Emotional and Mental Health, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Specific Learning Difficulties, Speech and Language and Communication needs and Physical Disabilities. The provision has many intervention sessions in place to meet the additional needs of all pupils, taking into consideration all aspects of their development that need further support both whilst in their care but also when they leave their care. The importance of inclusion of the whole support network for each pupil is a top priority for this school as many pupils are vulnerable (a high percentage of children having had ACEs) so ensuring they feel safe, supported, and respected is paramount for the specialist practitioners that work with these pupils. This provision has incorporated outdoor learning to its curriculum having a fully qualified Forrest Schools Practitioner to produce high quality teaching and outdoor learning into the pupil’s daily routine.
