Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated Vocational and Life Skills Teacher to join the  team!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging and practical lessons focused on developing vocational, life, and employment skills for students with autism and learning difficulties.
  • Create individualised learning plans tailored to each student's strengths, needs, and aspirations, with a strong emphasis on promoting independence and self-confidence.
  • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences and real-world simulations to help students develop practical skills such as cooking, budgeting, personal hygiene, communication, and social interaction.
  • Collaborate closely with vocational specialists, employers, and community organisations to provide work experience opportunities, job shadowing, and supported employment placements for students.
  • Implement structured routines and visual supports to support students with autism in navigating daily activities and transitions effectively.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed, celebrating their achievements and promoting self-advocacy.
  • Provide ongoing assessment and feedback to track student progress, identify areas for growth, and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with relevant experience in supporting students with autism and learning difficulties in a vocational or life skills setting desirable. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Creativity, patience, and flexibility in adapting teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and diversity in education, with a passion for empowering students to achieve their full potential.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to undergo clearance) and suitable references.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
