Teaching Personnel are looking for a Teacher to work in a Nottingham City SEND School, that caters for children aged 5 - 19 on the Autistic Spectrum.

The school are rated as Outstanding by OFSTED. They have the benefit of onsite Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists, in addition to Sensory rooms and areas.

The role:

  • Teaching in a class of KS2 and KS3 boys, all diagnosed with ASC and all pre-verbal, using signs, symbols, Makaton, gestures etc
  • 9 students in the class
  • Maternity cover from Easter until July (with a view to being longer term if the candidate is suitable)
  • Teaching curriculum based on P Levels and EYFS Curriculum, with a strong focus on still assessing student progress and academic ability, incorporating English, Maths and Science
  • Level 3 TA and Level 1 TA's  within the classroom to support
  • Implementing cross-curricular lessons; the school implements Art, Dance and PE within their teaching to support with student sensory needs
  • Dealing with complex challenging behaviours as a result of sensory overload
  • Full time role but the school WILL consider part time applications for the right person!

The ideal candidate will be an SEN Teacher with experience working with complex Autistic students. You will need to be comfortable with personal care and teaching non-verbal students. The school can offer training and support where required to fill any gaps in your knowledge or skill set.
