An esteemed and award-winning SEN School Group is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teacher (Secondary) to join the permanent staff at their independent special school in Wakefield. Role and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, tailored teaching to secondary students with a range of special educational needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that address the unique needs and goals of each student.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that encourages student engagement and progress.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists, support staff, and parents, to ensure holistic support for students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and adjusting teaching strategies as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and development.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in SEN education.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working as a SEN Teacher in a secondary school setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing IEPs.
  • Strong understanding of various special educational needs, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, and learning disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to teaching.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to participate in training and workshops.
  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or willingness to undergo one.
