The school specializes in providing exceptional education and care for students with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
  • Utilize a range of communication methods, including Makaton, PECS, and alternative communication devices.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes the well-being and development of students.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and support staff, to ensure comprehensive support for each child.
  • Engage with families and carers, providing regular updates and fostering strong partnerships.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of best practices in SEN education.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Applicants must hold QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience with PMLD: Proven experience working with children with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
  • Specialist Knowledge: Familiarity with sensory integration, complex physical needs, and adaptive technologies.
  • Communication Skills: Proficiency in alternative communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, and other assistive technologies.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Passion and Dedication: A genuine commitment to supporting the holistic development of students with complex needs.
  • Safeguarding: A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.

Desirable Qualities:

  • Additional qualifications in SEN, such as a postgraduate certificate or diploma.
  • Experience in creating and implementing sensory curriculums.
  • Previous experience in a similar setting or role.
