Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD)? A highly reputable Special Educational Needs Multi-Academy Trust (SEN MAT) in Headington is seeking dedicated and compassionate PMLD Teachers to join their permanent staff. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive and dynamic environment, committed to providing outstanding education and care for students with complex needs.

As a PMLD Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering a tailored curriculum that meets the individual needs of students with PMLD. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists, to provide a holistic and inclusive learning experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of the challenges faced by students with PMLD and a commitment to promoting their development and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of students with PMLD.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCO and other professionals.
  • Utilize a range of communication methods, including AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), to support students' communication and learning.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes the physical and emotional well-being of all students.
  • Work collaboratively with families and carers to support students' learning and development.
  • Participate in regular professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in SEN education.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialization or experience in teaching students with PMLD.
  • Proven experience working with students with profound and multiple learning disabilities in a school setting.
  • Strong understanding of PMLD-specific teaching strategies and interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with complex needs.

Desirable:

  • Additional qualifications in SEN education, such as a postgraduate certificate in SEN or a related field.
  • Experience with sensory integration techniques and therapeutic interventions.
  • Proficiency in using assistive technology and AAC systems.
