A leading SEN School Group, known for its outstanding provision and support for students with special educational needs, is seeking a skilled SEMH Teacher to join their secondary, alternative provision in New Ferry.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, tailored education to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role requires an individual who can create a nurturing, supportive, and challenging learning environment that meets the diverse needs of their students. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team that works collaboratively to support the holistic development of each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons tailored to the needs of students with SEMH needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes both academic and personal growth.
  • Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour and support students in developing coping mechanisms.
  • Work closely with support staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
  • Monitor and track student progress, adapting teaching methods as necessary to meet individual learning goals.
  • Contribute to the wider school community and participate in school events and initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs in a secondary or alternative provision setting.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH needs and proven strategies for addressing these challenges.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Resilience, patience, and a commitment to professional development.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
