EYFS SEN Teacher within a Primary School

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to work within a large Primary School in North Manchester. The successful candidate will work primarily with children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Year 1, providing vital teaching support for children with Autism, those of whom are non-verbal and also be able to assist with personal care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide group support for children with SEN, particularly those who are non-verbal.
  • Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to support the unique needs of each child.
  • Work closely with the school SENCO to deliver tailored educational activities that promote engagement and development.
  • Use alternative communication methods, such as Makaton, PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), or other relevant tools, to support non-verbal communication.
  • Support pupils with personal care, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene, ensuring dignity and respect is adhered to at all times.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Monitor pupil progress, offer leadership and guidance to Teaching Assistants and contribute to reports for parents and SEN reviews.
  • Promote social interaction and development of life skills through play and structured activities.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with SEN pupils, particularly those with communication difficulties or who are non-verbal.
  • Hold a Qualified Teaching Status or equivalent.
  • Be comfortable with assisting children with personal care.
  • Ability to work with a diverse team and communicate effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals.
  • A caring and patient attitude, with a strong commitment to inclusive education.
