SEN Teaching Assistant


I am working closely with the headteacher of a lovely primary school based in Chorley (PR7). The school meets the needs of pupils with a range of needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SCLN), and Autism.


The school
The headteacher ensures a warm, welcoming atmosphere is adopted throughout the school so that children settle in quickly and erase any previous negative educational experiences. The collaborative team combine both their experience and expertise to enable outstanding outcomes. They are committed to giving their children a creative, caring, and innovative learning environment for them to achieve their full potential in their education and develop their social communication.

The role
Teaching Assistants will work 1:1 and in small groups delivering behaviour and education support programmes. Lead learning activities instructed by the class teacher; differentiation will be adopted to ensure maximum output by the children. Incorporate the use of sensory aids to best support the children. Teaching Assistants will manage the behaviour of the children and in times, provide the children with strategies to cope with high pressure situations.

Key Information
This role is due to start in September 2022 and initially will be on a temporary basis, with the view to become permanent for the successful candidate. The hourly rate for this role is on a sliding scale (£10.77 - £11.77), reflected by your past experiences

Children with SEN thrive from having exceptional hard-working educators with an open, understanding of SEN support. We will welcome applicants who have knowledge of supporting student with SEN, in particular Autism. This doesn’t need to be within an educational seeing, personal experiences, Psychology graduates, youth workers, care workers, sports coach.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
