At Teaching Personnel we are working closely with a primary schools in the Horsham area that has asked us to recruit a 1:1/learning support assistant. The roles will be supporting the needs of a particular children in the reception class with some SEN needs such as global delay, emotional regulation, ADHD and ASC.  The positions is looking to be filled as soon as possible after an interview, the schools have indicated that they will move into a permanent position with them for the right candidate after a period of review.

The school are looking for a teaching assistant capable, pro-active and great at behaviour management due to the high need within the classroom. There are multiple other INA's also within the classroom. The position is full-time, term time only. There are positions with multiple different children requiring 1:1 support in different year groups.

Job role:

  • Reading or explaining tasks to the child, understanding, and supporting their needs and keeping them focused on their tasks.
  • Manage challenging behaviours.
  • Consistent and dependable - due to SEN needs this is essential
  • Support the teacher to maintain learning and help children access the curriculum.

Full time - competative rates of pay

What does it take to be a 1:1 Teaching Assistant?

  • Passion for education
  • Patience and understanding
  • No formal educational qualifications necessary - however experience of SEN needs is essential.
  • Minimum 5 GCSEs in core subjects
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate available on the Update service (Teaching Personnel can assist)
  • Access to a car is preferable due to location but not essential
