Job Title: Early Years ALN Teaching Assistant

Location: Newport

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 – 15:30

Pay: Minimum £83 per day

Start: April 2024

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting an experienced Teaching Assistant with an interest in Early Years and ALN. You will be required to use communication friendly strategies such as visual cues to support the children in all aspects of schooling, including support with toileting. Assisting with mealtimes and play times, providing a nurturing environment. There will be an expectation to support a small group of 3-4 children, but to also prepare and maintain classroom provision for all children including the outdoor environment and areas of the classroom, so general TA experience is helpful as well as specific SEN experience.

Teaching Assistant responsibilities:

  • Show initiative and being able to take direction in a calm and assertive manner.
  • Be willing and pro-active in supporting children.
  • Must be able to be able to support toileting needs of the children, including changing and wiping.
  • Deliver strong quality Maths and English interventions.
  • Use communication friendly strategies to help support the children’s growth and development.

A Successful Teaching Assistant will require:

  • To be registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
  • Hold a Child only DBS certificate that is registered on the Update System.
  • Provide 2 professional references covering 24 months.
  • Ideally have a background in Early Years.

This school identifies as having 22% of pupils with additional learning needed, the schools learning resource base opening in September 2016 to support those pupils with behaviour and learning disabilities.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
