LONDON SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Primary SEN School in North London

Job Type: Temporary position, expected to work full-time hours

Primary Industry: Education 

Salary: £90-£100 a day

Start date: September 2024 (with a view to continue onto a permanent contract) 

Job Duties:

  • Provide support to Year 4 children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a classroom setting
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing individual education plans for SEN students
  • Help create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups with SEN students to reinforce learning concepts
  • Support students with personal care needs, if required

Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience working with children with SEN
  • Good understanding of SEN requirements and strategies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Education: Minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.

Experience: Prior experience working in a similar role within an educational setting.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of SEN practises and procedures
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of individual students
  • Strong organisational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional training in supporting students with specific SEN requirements
  • Safeguarding Children in Education (Can be provided through Teaching Personnel)

Working Conditions:

This role involves working in a classroom environment, collaborating with teachers and other support staff. The position may require flexibility in working hours to accommodate student needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
