A highly reputable Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) in Swindon, Wiltshire, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join their permanent staff from September 2024. This position offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic and supportive educational environment, contributing to the growth and development of students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with special educational needs, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support the delivery of personalized learning programs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student well-being and engagement.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly in a SEN setting.
  • A relevant qualification in Special Educational Needs (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning).
  • Strong understanding of various SEN conditions and effective strategies for supporting students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature, committed to making a difference in the lives of students.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A valid DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).

Desirable:

  • Additional training or qualifications related to specific SEN needs (e.g., Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia).
  • Experience using assistive technologies and resources to support student learning.
  • A flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of students and the school environment.
