Job Opportunity: SEN Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated good secondary school in Bramhall. This full-time position is available to start ASAP and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance. The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Student Support:

  • Provide tailored support to students with special educational needs, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students, ensuring that they receive the appropriate support and accommodations.
  • Work one-on-one or with small groups of students to deliver targeted interventions and support.
  • Help students with their academic work, developing their skills and confidence in various subjects.
  • Support students with their social and emotional development, fostering a positive and inclusive school experience.

Classroom Assistance:

  • Assist the classroom teacher in managing student behaviour and creating a positive learning environment.
  • Support the teacher in differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students.
  • Help with the preparation and organisation of teaching materials and resources.
  • Provide additional support during classroom activities, group work, and practical exercises.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and any behavioural or learning issues.
  • Assist with the marking and assessment of student work, providing constructive feedback to help students improve.
  • Help with the preparation of lesson plans, teaching materials, and classroom displays.
  • Support the organisation of SEN-related extracurricular activities, such as clubs and support groups.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and other support staff to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and carers, providing regular updates on student progress and any areas of concern.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with external professionals, such as educational psychologists and speech therapists, to provide comprehensive support to students.

Requirements:

  • A genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs and a commitment to their success.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Previous experience working with young people, particularly in a SEN setting, is desirable but not essential.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to supporting teaching and learning.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs are advantageous but not mandatory.
