Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: NN2 Northampton

Teaching Personnel are currently looking for SEN Specialist Teaching Assistants specialising in Autism, ADHD and ASD to work in our schools in one of our client schools to support secondary students.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing dedicated support to secondary-aged students with SEN. Your resilience, adaptability, and commitment will contribute to the creation of an inclusive and enriching learning environment where students can thrive. The role will involve working in a fantastic Secondary school located in the heart of Northampton. The school has a great SEN department, with stong leadership to support you. It is one of the many schools in Northampton that has beautiful high ceilings and a huge car park

The role involves working withs students aged between 11 and 16.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with secondary-aged students with ASD and potentially other SEN needs, providing individualized or small group support.
  • Implement and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) and maintain records of student progress.
  • Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, promoting student engagement and emotional well-being.
  • Offer emotional and behavioural support to students, demonstrating resilience in challenging situations.
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers and colleagues to ensure the successful integration of students with ASD.
  • Assist with classroom organization and management.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with secondary-aged students with ASD or SEN is advantageous.
  • Resilience and the ability to remain calm and composed in demanding situations.
  • Genuine passion for supporting young people and dedication to their personal growth and development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support is a plus but not mandatory.
