We are currently seeking LSA's to work within our partner secondary schoool based in Amble to start in Septmeber - please see job specification below.

As a result of specific learning needs identified within pupil cohorts, we require additional Learning Support Partners (LSPs) to join our friendly and supportive Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) team to start as soon as possible.

Main duties include working in classrooms to support individual, or small groups of pupils in reaching their specific social, emotional or academic targets.

Often referred to as Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant, we recognise the vital and valued work undertaken, and have named the role ‘Learning Support Partner’, which we believe more accurately reflects the direct impact your work will have on our pupils, their learning and their futures.

The successful candidate will be able to work independently with individuals, small groups or within a whole class as required; have the ability to use initiative and apply effective problem-solving skills; be able to work as a member of a team; and sensitively understand the needs of pupils and their families.

Typical work includes:

  • 1 to 1 or small group support for pupils in class
  • Delivery of intervention programmes to individual pupils or small groups
  • Supporting with setting and reviewing targets and updating pupil passports

In return, this rewarding position offers good prospects for in-school development and progression - former LSPs have moved on to Pastoral Support Officer and Assistant SENCO roles – and also offers practical experience for anyone considering a career in teaching.  Our LSPs benefit from participation in weekly staff CPD alongside teaching staff and benefit from the guidance of the county’s lead SENCO, who also happens to be Head of School and SENCO here at the school. Training is provided on a range of SEND and whole school related topics such as safeguarding and literacy, as well as specific SEND needs.

Experience working within education is welcome but not essential - it is more important that you are an empathetic individual who is passionate about education and helping pupils to overcome barriers to learning. If you can support, motivate and inspire our pupils to get the most out of their time here, we want to hear from you!

Our Learning Support Partners typically work 32.5 hours equally spread evenly over 5 days with some after school time on Mondays to accommodate continual professional development time. However, we will also consider applications from candidates who wish to job share or work reduced hours.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.  It is essential that all staff and volunteers share this commitment.

If you are interested in this position, please contact a memeber of the Tyne Tees Seconadary team with your CV.
