SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our client secondary school. The successful candidate will work closely with students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN), providing tailored support to enhance their educational experience. You will play a crucial role in helping these students overcome barriers to learning and achieve academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEN in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in classroom activities.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Assist in the preparation of learning materials and resources that cater specifically to the diverse requirements of SEN students.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support during lessons, ensuring that students remain engaged and motivated.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff regarding individual achievements and areas for improvement.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is essential.
  • Strong understanding of various types of SEN including but not limited to autism spectrum disorder (ASD), dyslexia, ADHD, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people in their educational journey.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
