Are you a compassionate individual who would like a new challenge, supporting students who have previously struggled in mainstream schools. They are looking for the right candidate who has experience working with students who have special educational needs and may sometimes display challenging behaviour

An alternative provision school in Liverpool is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support to our secondary students. The school is committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment where every student can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to students who have struggled in mainstream schools, helping them stay engaged and motivated.
  • Utilize your experience with PRU settings to manage and respond to challenging behaviours effectively.
  • Apply your understanding of trauma-informed practices to support students with compassion and sensitivity.
  • De-escalate potential conflicts and challenging situations calmly and professionally.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them feel comfortable and supported in their learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure support for each student.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized learning plans tailored to each student's needs.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with secondary students in PRU settings or similar environments.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with behavioural issues and trauma.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and adapt to the needs of each student.
  • Resilience, patience, and a positive attitude towards overcoming challenges.

The ideal educator would be somebody who would be able to work well in high pressure situations, the job role can be extremely rewarding but also challenging at times as the students need to build up trust with staff to be able to feel comfortable in their environment. The school are looking for somebody with a strong understanding and knowledge of the challenges that children with previous trauma may face and be able to support them and guide them to achieve to the best of their ability.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
