Teaching Assistant - Specialist Independent School

The PWR team at Teaching Personnel is excited to announce an opportunity to work with an Ofsted-graded Good independent specialist school based in Darwen (BB3). We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join a team committed to supporting young people who face challenges due to complex communication needs, typically associated with Autism spectrum conditions.

Position: Teaching Assistant
Location: Darwen (BB3)
Hourly Rate: £11.72 - £12.78 per hour
Annual Salary: £20,941.30 - £22,835.30 (depending on experience and qualifications)
Job Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with Autism spectrum conditions, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs).
  • Support students in their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and promote a positive and engaging learning atmosphere.
  • Participate in regular training and professional development sessions.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people with Autism spectrum conditions and other complex communication needs.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in education or special needs support.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
