About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join an alternative provision in Saltash. You will work closely with a student with an Educational Healthcare Plan (EHCP) to ensure they can fully access the curriculum and thrive in their learning environment. This is a highly rewarding role where your support will make a significant difference in the student's academic journey and overall school experience.

In this role, you will collaborate with the class teacher, onsite experts, and specialists to create a supportive and nurturing environment tailored to the student’s individual needs. You will be an integral part of a team committed to the success and well-being of the student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a student with an EHCP, focusing on their individual needs.
  • Assist the student in accessing the curriculum and engaging in classroom activities.
  • Implement strategies and interventions as outlined in the EHCP.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and specialists to monitor progress and adapt support strategies as needed.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
  • Encourage social interaction and emotional development.
  • Keep detailed records of the student's progress and any challenges faced.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with children and young people with additional needs, ideally in an educational or care setting.
  • Be patient, empathetic, and creative in their approach to supporting the student.
  • Have a strong commitment to safeguarding and the well-being of children.
  • Be adaptable, resilient, and able to build a positive rapport with the student.
  • Be committed to making a lasting impact on the student's future and overall school experience.
